Young girls groomed and abused
Nobody cared, they were just 'cheap, common' girls.
Perhaps the strange thrill of commanding attention
Later brought guilt, self-reproach and self-harm.
Nobody to comfort, no kind, gentle words,
For their only refuge, a cruel stranger's lust.
How could they know what horrors awaited?
Once caught in the trap, what hope could they hold?
The ones who could help simply turned a blind eye,
Those sounding the warning were gagged and dismissed.
The shame that they feel is not theirs to be feeling,
It is yours, it is mine, we betrayed every one.

Betrayed
Nobody heard, when they cried out for justice.Nobody cared, they were just 'cheap, common' girls.
