Memories

How could I forget you
as I gave my love to you once and forever
never to ignore it or forget it,
never to disclaim, regret, neglect it or suppress it.
Love once given is a pledge and a responsibility forever,
and you can never disregard it
as it always will remain a presence in your memories
that you can never disregard, deny or do without
as it will constantly remind you of your only immortality,
that of love once given.
So be not afraid of wallowing in memories of love,
of that sentimentality that made you weak and humble,
which in fact is your most potent strength and power
as the core of your humanity.

Tricky question, Kant. I would say that nothing is more individual, it's different for everyone depending on how it is experienced, no love is the same, and no general rule is applicable, while of course the force of its spiritual element is universal - felt diffrently by every individual to all levels and degrees from extreme ecstasy to prosaic acknowledgement of fact.

Love, once given, can never be taken back. It might be stored into memories in a heart that is as deep as the sea, but it is always there. Good poem.
