You Are With Me
Every path I walk,Every road I travel,
You are there with me,
Your words show me the way.
I knew you for so few years,
Only twenty of my seventy-four,
But your wisdom remains forever
Written in my heart.
I am still your tomboy girl,
Climbing trees may be out right now,
But I could still pass you the feelers
When the spark plug's whiskered.
I still know the name
Of every tool in the box.
I would love to be beside you,
As you work, today,
Watch you repair our shoes,
Trim the leather soles,
While you hammer the next.
Waste not, want not.
Everything can be repaired
Or it can be recycled.
So why can't you repair my heart,
My Daddy, my hero?
