The first line owes its existence to Leonard Cohen. A bit of a twist at the end...

Heart damage

So, I showed my
Heart to the
Doctor. She examined,
Shook her head, examined
Again.

My impatience was
Palpable.
Well?
What's the
Verdict?

Basically, she
Said, removing her spectacles,
Rubbing the bridge of her
Nose, again shaking her
Head.

As expected, in one
of your age,
There is evidence of
Injury.

Betrayal,
The odd instance of neglect,
Even the occasional untruth.
All cause damage.

You need to address these
issues.
If you do this,
You may find

By, instead, showing love,
Kindness, integrity,
You can undo the harm
You have caused
Yourself.
