Sometimes help is just not needed.

Husband Moncho helps with Dinner

While we were in Lidl, Moncho chucked a chicken in the basket, then when we got home, he said it's so easy just to pop a chicken in the oven to roast. And then fell asleep.

Yeah, right. I made stuffing, stuffed the chicken, put it in the oven.

Peeled potatoes and par boiled them, peeled carrots, put them to boil.

Prepared courgettes, blanched them to keep them sweet, then when the potatoes were starting to go soft, put them in a roasting tin and cut, deseeded and washed a red pepper to roast along with the potatoes.

Now, when potatoes and peppers are roasted, I need to put courgettes to finish off while I cut up the chicken and make the gravy.

Wake Moncho.

And to think I was planning a really complicated meal: Stewing lamb, chop onions, chop carrots, chop potatoes, tin tomatoes, throw in oven, forget them.

What a relief to have a simple roast dinner.

It's no excuse, but men are idiots. Falling asleep at crucial moments is always a good default position.

You'd miss the little helper. Though, lord knows why.

(I'm projecting a bit.)
