Written about a friend....
Why must I put myself through this misery?
When I think of you, sweet, caring, and kind,
Are all words that form in my mind.
I think of you as untainted.
I know this is an illusion I have painted.
I don't want to lose this hope,
Without it I don't know if I could cope.
Of all the daily masks I wear,
For when people stop to stare,
I look to you as a true friend.
Someone with whom I never pretend.

Why can't I see you as you see me?Why must I put myself through this misery?
When I think of you, sweet, caring, and kind,
Are all words that form in my mind.
I think of you as untainted.
I know this is an illusion I have painted.
I don't want to lose this hope,
Without it I don't know if I could cope.
Of all the daily masks I wear,
For when people stop to stare,
I look to you as a true friend.
Someone with whom I never pretend.
