The rejected lover
All I wanted was to love and give
which wasn’t very well received
but mostly with misunderstandings,
taking my good will as something negative
and dangerous to be aware of and repel
with depreciatory response and disregard.
Must love then be confined in isolation
and sustained and activated only in protection
against baseness, failure to appreciate,
ingratitude and ignorance and bad vibrations,
like a morbid attitude of short-sighted self-limitation?
There is no bitterness but only disappointment
with the commonness and insufficiency of human nature
that should be divine with capability of understanding everything
but which, as we all know, was capable of crucifying Christ.
