This time of the year I'm mostly Christian, whereas other times (Easter expected) I'm also Buddhist. So I make no apology for a traditional take. After all, it is His birthday!
Nativity
Let us hail this most beauteous morn,for on this day, so long ago
our Saviour, Jesus Christ was born.
We feel his new-born light,
that came to cancel our long night.
Out of darkness dawns the day,
to where the child now lay,
and from whose miraculous birth,
Heaven came down to Earth.
And all Hail the Blessed Virgin,
so full now of God’s Grace;
when angel and maid had met,
the Word in her was manifest,
without the least disgrace.
Now holding close her baby and
tucking his blanket fold,
her full mothers breast now lent
to his eager ruby face.
So, Joy to the World, as we praise,
Heaven and Earth are in accord;
since God did speak one word,
and that Word is newly born in
mortal flesh in this barn.
As the child in his cradle sleeps,
angels and shepherds come
in wonder – to worship and see
the wonder of eternity
