The Stations of The Cross - Seventh Station
Jesus carries the cross.Mark 15: 20
Laughing, they spit into his face,
Now their sport is over. As a man
He submits to his disgrace, as
He sways, his pain like a red flush,
Sending shocks through his body.
His blood, so much gone in a rush.
Now they bring him the heavy beam,
The crossbar, he’ll carry to Calvary,
Across his back, his hands tied taught,
On the dark wood, soaked in blood.
This thing has been used before.
His fingers find holes in the wood,
Where flesh had been nailed in gore.
He flexes muscles, takes the weight.
Doors open, bright light, a spear jab.
He starts upon the sorrowful way.
