a shock treatment of destiny
The iron grip of winter held us still as hostages
in ruthless winds directly from Siberia
through six months of torment and some more,
and everybody suffered most atrociously
in never-ending and outrageous agony,
when news came of your sudden death,
a young and healthy man of greatest expectations,
you could have successfully made any qualified profession,
to the glory of your parents and to everyone who knew you.
And instead, a total flop, a pitiable surrender,
to the forces of cruel circumstances.
You were thrust into a well of bottomless proportions
and could not make your way up from that abyss.
It was not despair or cowardice, it was the force of circumstances,
dragging you down into an unfathomable mystery
that we shall need some time to analyze, get over with and understand.
