Also Known as an Idler
I write poems. That isn't a trade, as nothing of value's
Exchanged for them. I watch my neighbors go dutifully
By. They are builders of houses, and nurses, bankers,
Flower shop owners, and engineers. They are what they
Do, what provides them with money. I'm not. I'm
Somebody works for a wage, and diligently does so,
But never has thought that the job he was doing
Identified him. For better or worse, I have known
I'm an artist, and that has kept me from a trade.
