My Contribution to my own challenge
Of how one fun filled night
Turned bad in a hurry
No hope in sight
Little Liz Lane
On 29th street
Had a passion for Halloween
She couldn't even eat
A party was planned
For the sweet little child
All other children
Including her smiled
The date was set
The schedule quite handy
There would be costumes and soda
And let's not forget candy
On a calm Friday night
She went with glee
On her routine candy hunt
Just filled with delight
When she got to the house
Someone opened the door
It was all she imagined
This fact and a little more
Hours went by
Yet the smile on her face
Would soon disappear
And everyone in the place
With a bolt of lighting
The lights went out
She was shocked and screamed
Then settled in the doubt
When the lights flashed back
She was all alone
The area was almost black
And gone was the phone
She looked for an exit
But the door was locked
She was trapped in a mad house
Her escape was blocked
She walked by a mirror
And then came surprise
She was looking into faces
With eight glaring eyes
She couldn't contain
Her calmness and jolted
For the door once again
But still it was bolted
The image emerged
From the broken mirror
And filled Liz Lane
With endless fear
Her subconscious surged
With chilling ideas
That couldn't be stopped
Finally she emerged
Outside on the sidewalk
She finally appeared
Dazed and confused
It was twelve o'clock
She looked at the house
Recovered from fear
She wouldn't be for long
The ghost again appeared
With that note she ran
Down the street with speed
Her night of wondered
Had been wrong indeed
That was the tale
Of little Liz Lane
Whose Halloween experience
Was all but mundane
