The Pegasus

Silently I sojourn the flight of my dreams,
Riding the Pegasus, as it spreads its wings;
The majestical landscapes mesmerize my sight,
Compel me to hold my breathe as I fly;
The winds whisper their merriment in my ear,
The sun rays smile at me as clouds tear;
As it soars down, its legs kiss the ocean,
And I feel as if I am in seventh heaven.

Out of the blue, an ogre loomed large,
I tried to evade as it made its charge;
I draw my saber ready for the duel,
Blessed be my soul, if I win the battle cruel;
The tussle took its toll,
Into its death-bed, the beast rolled;
The journey was again embarked upon,
What lay ahead was unknown.

As the voyage veered in the air,
Tones of trouble thwarted (to my utter despair);
Still I managed to be the victor,
But slowly my body grew sore;
As I guided the creature to a deserted island,
I silently prayed for a peaceful rest.

As I descended from the creature's back,
I meekly looked for a place to heal and rest;
What I found was a placid pool,
I quenched my thirst with its water cool;
My weary feet refused to carry my burden,
The footsteps of sleep I can surely hearken.

As I woke up from my deep sleep,
I found myself stranded in that covert beach;
The Pegasus now bore a new warrior,
Was already on its new journey, in the air;
The Gods' wrath have jinxed my fate,
Their purpose was being abate,
And I lay stranded in that cursed land.
