A look into the eyes of society

Passive Acceptance

If we're to accept each other

Then why do our looks become

A haven of illusion and glamor

When our hearts have grown numb

A smile would seem to provide plenty

A wink of the eye and roll the dice

Was your smile a tool to facilitate joy

Or a poison in your plan to entice

I've seen the faces of many a friend

Battered beaten and bruised

The intentions of all the unknown races

Had made one too many confused

Feel free to take love for what it is

It's benefits or it's steady pain

Like risking all your dignity in passion

And finding your heart; nothing gained

So when you decide to hide or smile

Please keep one fact in mind

Protect your heart with the hurt of the past

So desertion is not what you find

Zoya Zaidi
I think every one should be blind,
So that he or she,
makes an impression about,
the person they first meet,
not by the the colour of
his eyes or skin,
But by his voice
his personality within...

(((hugs)))

Kathy Lockhart
you made some very valid points in your poem Aaron. We never know what the future holds in our life no matter what avenue we travel. We must learn from our past to help us make better choices but still even that will not guarantee a pain-free future. With risks come losses and/or gains, pain and/or happiness, love and/or hate. It is what life does and what life it ...experiences
