In August 1968, Soviet tanks rolled into Czechoslovakia to suppress the Dubcek Government. On this very day in 1968, my sister, Valerie, and many of her friends were killed in a plane crash near Munich. This is to her memory.
memories past
not
for the
first time
did I
walk
nay
wander
on the
wobbly way
by Dodder bank
through shadows
dappling down
on muddied path
as river rise
and rapid rose
the brown and
bubbling surge
past weir wide
and sultry bend
upon
its search
for sea
and many seasons
have I passed
this spot
yet in my
mind's eye
can I not
but linger
long
on memories past
and farewells
never given
I am
the soul
survivor
of times
when innocence
was lost
and future hopes
deferred
lost
in times
relentless
flow
