metamorphosis - radiotherapy

descending
into
in too
inner
space
again
a gain
the violet
violent
in viol
light of healing
destroying
good and bad
indiscriminately
in discriminating
my mask
fixed
so light
so fright
so tight
I could
for torture be
panic
manic
dancing
butterfly's wings
upon the portal
of my being
open brain
open skull
wasting
so to heal
I cannot be the same for this
can I be me again for this
can he be him again despite this
descending
into inner space
again
my chrysalis
is set
for flying

Excellent words portraying the descent into the hell of radiotherapy and all its implications.

Kathy Lockhart
the very structure of each line each word delivers the impact of the descent, the acceptance, the fear, the complete surrender to this thing which destroys in order heal. hugs for you Kathy

"I cannot be the same for this
can I be me again for this"

I find this couplet (in flawless iambic tetrameter, no less) especially fine in this provocative text!
