GONE

In lamenting solitude,
Staring into emptiness,
Recalling your company,
A greater friend can never be,

You hand in mine,
As we skipped down the road,
Dressed in pink frocks,
Our lips as red as rose,

Of the endless laughter,
And time we've spent,
Of the treats we've gorged on,
And the dreams we've dreamt,

Of the glasses we've broken,
And the words we've spoken,
Of all our fights,
While rolling the dice,

Of the secrets we've shared,
And the dares we've dared,
Of the stages we've stumbled on,
It's hard to accept you're gone.

liz munro The PoetBay support member heart!
This is sadness tinged
with happiness.
The grief is felt
so honestly, yet at
the same time you
get a sense that
they will live
on in memories.

I like how straightforward
and simple this poem is.
