The love syndrome

I used to love you,
but I never quite succeeded,
which is why I love you still
and, the worse, the more,
since you were always unattainable
and therefore irresistible
to almost an unbearable degree,
which is why I can't stop loving you
but must go on
and love you still,
the worse, the more.

It's pretty darned uncanny how a love that is never allowed to touch our lips, never quenches our thirst. We don't actually die from that thirst (or in most case we don't)...yet we choose not to satisfy it with a different drink (well...ok...some of us may try that...but...). In the end...we are merely left...thirsting...evermore... Nice poem ! You are a thinker !
Hugs,
Dee
