The Man Who Feared Just Enough

The man who feared just enough
looked the other way at things.
He looked the other way at things
enough times his apartment became

a mansion. Then he looked away
and all the people were begging.
He looked around and the president
had become king and he was a prince.

The man who feared just enough
felt really bad about this. So he schemed
for once. He would marry the king's
daughter to become king.

He brought roses, wrote poetry, you know,
wooed her. But as he was writing,
his subconscious made him cry
and he was afraid to marry and become king.

He became quite cynical and apathetic.
Heads were chopped off left and right
and it made him feel good and powerful.
When the king died

the man who feared just enough, too much,
and then not enough became a wicked king.
He conquered Canada, Mexico, and all
of South America. Europe finally stepped in.

Having seen kings like him before,
they were able to diplomatically psyche him out.
They scolded him for not seeing his ways.
They pointed out the his friend who needed

money, his contrived poetry and heart,
his swings in fear. This affected him deeply.
And then before he could do anything,
they killed him by lethal injection.
