Books

If you see God in a book, tell him
I said hello. Tell him that you found him
in a book and that everyone should
read this book. Don't expect
them to find the same things.

It may take a thousand days
to read one page. It may take a day
to read a thousand pages.
But the book will still be a book.
You can't fight that.

Sometimes a book will not be a book.
It will be life. A fine life.
Only people with lonely hearts will disturb.
Everything except you will make sense.
The dead man will warm you somehow.

I finished a book once. Sometimes I do,
Sometimes I don't. But then I needed to do
something else, probably, talk
to a friend. And that was the end
of my book reading livelihood.
