to my late husband
i always think of him as i walk along the beach

A Callous Salutation

Watch as the waves pummel shingle
They ebb away as you did unutterably.
Years pass as with hands outstretched
We never regret each other together-
Well you can hardly tell me different can you
Sweetly?

Hands worn close stroke memories away
To stay in that blue horizon there
Just around the corner where you
Live now.

Hello there my love!

Ever since I removed our wedding ring
The little hard bump of skin on my palm has softened
I sadly watched it heal and fade and smooth
But we know now how
My callousness has become removed
It's healing with you forever
Just around that corner
Where you live to me.
As you said,
We were always simply happily just
Around the bend.

Jenks...what a beautiful love poem this is...It says much
about your loving relationship with your late husband...
He's still "just around the bend"

A profound, real-life love poem indeed. Romance and reality no doubt are at odds; but not hopelessly so.

This must be the least callous...
lovely and touching. I sometimes venture there too, hoping I will be followed back.
