A Rained upon Fantasy
The rain falls at a slow steady paceIt slides down my window pane
Making its own personal path in a
Siege of water
The desire to feel the cool, crisp
Wetness overcomes me
I slowly walk outside
I see you standing there
Not assuming
Not moving
Just waiting
Waiting for me
I stand still waiting for you to make a move
You are soaking wet
Yet you don't seem to care
As you continue waiting
Waiting for me to make my decision
Go back inside where it is safe
And warm
Or take a chance and walk out into the storm
With you
As I make my way toward you
I can slowly make out the rain droplets sliding down your
Cheek
I see it fall from your hair
I see it drip silently from your eyelashes
Finally I stop before you
You finally move
Silently making your own decision
You smile
You take a step forward
This is the moment I have been waiting for
You cup my cheek with your hand
How can you be so warm?
You pull me towards you slowly by the hand on my waist
I look up into your clear eyes
And I see everything I had hoped
All the emotions I had hoped that you would return
Are there in the rain
Looking straight at me
We lean forward simultaneously
I feel your breath tickle the skin on my lips
You pause, asking me for permission
I close my eyes and wait for your lips to
Finally caress mine
And I awaken
I see my blank white wall glaring at me for wishing
I hear my alarm clock screaming at me to come back to
reality
I rise slowly
My dreams have once again made reality a nightmare
I raise the blinds and look outside
And watch as the rain slides down the window pane
Poetry by sweet despair
