Reactions to a stunning exhibition of Russian Art, pre- and post-Communist
Revolution at the Bonnefanten Museum (Maastricht, NL)

socialist realism

images

in darkened rooms

russia before all that

in a way

before the war

that finished all

the artists seem

to intuit

the coming dark

of red and black

when being primitive

ruled

and those who could

preferred to die

in attics

in Paris

not gulags

in Siberia

This is a very nice poem, Peter. I'd like to see the exhibition. So much wild, interesting stuff was being done in the early years after the revolution, before Stalin and orthodoxy arrived.
