a flight to Rome
is this what heaven
is like?
as we rose
from darkness
into light
mist and
deep cloudiness
earthbound
gave way
with little resistance
to dark sinister
impenetrable clouds
reluctantly
surrendered
to the deepest
blood red
orange
tangerine
lightest green
almost azure
endless skies
the sun
blinded
the unprepared
I slept
awakening
to blue white
snow on the
Apennines
and motley
hills, woods
and fertile plains
ending in sand
where the Tiber flowed
is this
what heaven
is like?
