Trying to let it rest
Neither can I turn back time,Nor can I earse my memory,
The arms of guilt start to climb,
Around me feeling deregatory.
Fingers pointing at me as well you,
As if passing on the blame can cure our souls.
I'll forgive if you will too,
I'll let go if you meet me half way through,
I'll sleep a peaceful night,
I'll let your soul rest too.
I carry you around like a burden,
I need to get you off my chest,
I need to know what it feels like to breathe again,
I need to let all the hurt between us rest.
Our laughter surrounds me,
Reminding me of the days that the sun did shine,
Where one little incident didn't alter our lives,
I need that easy-going companionship,
Rather than awkward silence and forced company.
I'll forgive if you will too,
I'll let go if you meet me half way through,
I'll sleep a peaceful night,
I'll let your soul rest too.
I remember the days I looked up to you,
I saw the pride in your eyes,
All I see now is the bleak unreadable expression,
I see the fake smile and forced lies.
I carry you around like a burden,
I need to get you off my chest,
I need to know what it feels like to breathe again,
I need to let all the hurt between us rest.
I'll forgive if you will too,
I'll let go if you meet me half way through,
I'll sleep a peaceful night,
I'll let your soul rest too.
