26th Installment of my Series (Martha)

Teachers Teaching Me

I built my life around the things
That would provide me chance
In my life they were all female
They helped me all to advance
First were my children I’d always love
Their faith in me pushed me on
I built my life around the love of them
They were the prize I had won
Next was my mother I always loved
A strong woman till days end
She taught me the power of independence
She was my mentor and friend
When I was down she made me smile
When I was lost she held my hand
She gave me grace, love, and peace
All of which she thought were grand
Last but not least was my loving aunt
Who taught me to sit and wait
To appreciate the serenity in life
To not mess with the force called fate
Patience was a skill I needed to learn
If I hoped to do well in my life
With everything that happens daily
You may have to deal with the strife
All the people who shaped my life
Now still reside in my heart
They gave me purpose to carry on
Just like they did from the start
I’ll never forget all the memories instilled
Within the events that I chose to do
As long as the intuition I have still shines
There is no limit to what I can do
