darkness of the heart
is therea cure for
this darkness
of the heart
they tell me
to forget the past
live the now
and
embrace the future
but
where does that leave me
the past contains
unspeakable pain
and the future
a terrible prospect
no
I walk a line
along the sand
where seagulls shriek
and the wind
obliterates my steps
yes
to Mayo go
when all else fails
and on an Erris shore
I am complete
as no-where else
40 years a salving
this is my present
my past
my future
a curlew's cry
from heaven
