if this is heaven
if this is heaven
do let me stay
for we know not
the moment nor the day
when the call will come
and better than a winter's night
when frost and bleak black skies unite
to bring the reaper home
no rather on an Irish day
of Spring and winds and blossom blown
the blackthorn hedge in bloom
horse chestnut trees with candles flow
up on the upper meadow wide
where dandelion and daisy shine
enough to make old Willie's heart to soar
the kids do hurl not from the ditch
with energy and passion
my heart is filled by sights and sounds
and Wordsworth's eye upon me
lights a distant solitude
if this is heaven
let me stay
for we know not
the moment nor the day
just now
