Villanelle
The moon upon the water is so bright,So sail with me upon the rippling lake,
Come, share with me the wonders of the night!
While Nightingales are warbling all the night,
The sleeping songbirds think dawn soon will break,
The moon upon the water is so bright.
The owl is moving silently in flight,
And bright the stars reflect upon the lake,
Come, share with me the wonders of the night.
Stay, love, with me, for soon the morning light
The magic of this dream will surely break,
For the moon upon the water is so bright.
For I would hold you in my arms tonight,
Caress you till the Sun begins to wake-
Come, share with me the wonders of the night!
For ours could be a night of sweet delight
And secretly our pleasure we could take;
The moon upon the water is so bright,
Come, share with me the wonders of the night!
