I have read the poems "A Great Wonder", "Criminal", "Being a Poet" and "Blind Justice (The one who grievances first are right)". These four poems are my favorite poems written by Afzal Shauq. I think the reason I like these three the most is because they all say something about human kind and the questions we all ask ourselves at least once in our lives.

"A Great Wonder" is one of the shorter poems that I have read, but it is very nicely written. This poem states three questions that I ask myself about six times a week maybe more. These questions are things I think we have all asked ourselves. I agree with Afzal Shauq that all of the good or kind things that people do in this world show just how great god is.

"Criminal" is a very well written poem. It seems to talk about walls that you find in nature, such as mountains, and rivers. When you think about it nature is sort of containing us to small areas of the world. I mean some mountains are still too high for people to get over even with planes, helicopters, and anything else. It makes it seem like we are being punished for crimes we didn't commit.

"Being a Poet" is a shorter poem but again like all of Afzal Shauq's poems it is very nicely written. The first few lines almost seem like you are thinking of a peaceful suicide. Then Afzal Shauq starts to say that her soul is like that so it makes me wonder does she have a dark soul. But the next line says how that is the one who keeps her alive but in a hard way. So I think that would be like her saying it is life is hard and that suicide would be the easy way out.

"Blind Justice (The one who grievances first are right)" is about a murder. All of the evidence for this man to be the convict is there and yet the judge does not convict him. This is something that does not happen often but when it does it is a horrible thing. In this poem she talks about when the judge says he is innocent everyone is that court room pleads for him to change his mind, and send this man to jail, but yet the judge does not and so this murderer goes free.

These are my four favorite poems that I have read by Afzal Shauq, and what I think of them. I hope you agree, and I hope you enjoy all of his poetry.
