The Sun, Moon and Tree
In a time where there was no timeIn a universe, alone
Without chorus
On a planet, dying
Where there was no death
Beneath a Sun
Proud, defiant and ever glowing
In a land, without ever knowing
There stood a tree
Scorched and Parched
Bent and Arched
Arid earth, gave home to the tree's roots
Hot winds, gave breath to the tree's branches
And the tyrant of the sky, the fiery star
Reigned, uncaring, from afar
Apathy, grew in The Sun
And it turned it's eyes away from the world
Abandoning it to darkness
For it had seen another
Glowing, so softly
Haloed with lucid, luminous light
Romancing the intimate black and white
Her radiance, touched the world
And sought out the lonely tree
Her gentle, caring embrace
provided a nurture no sun could ever understand
So the tree grew a leaf of silver colour
That radiated a delicate light
In the cool luminescence of the moonlit night
A fruit then grew out from the tree
Until, heavy with new wanderlust
It split from the tree, and fell
Never moving forever more
Wasting away until the seeds inside
Lay upon the arid earth
And they, with a shy nature
Dug deep into the ground
With nary a sight or sound
The Sun now looked back to it's domain
And saw the tree kissed by the moon
A silver leaf, upon it's branches
Enraged the molten heart with fury
Such that the land did shake, quake
And sprout up mountains tall and dire
Spewing forth, ash, lava and fire
But The Moon, ever watchful, saw the sun
Play it's game of death and doom
And so she sent out from the gloom
Wisps that blew and billowed
Until great clouds she then sent forth
Darker than the ashen sky
These clouds, they gathered above the tree
And poured a tempest of rain and thunder
Lightning broke the rims of mountains
Collapsing the fortresses of The Sun
Quenching the fires of his madness
Drowning the Sun in torrents of sadness
The Moon, she left her clouds to watch
And forever more they stay above
A shield to guard Earth from The Sun,
And in the craters from the battle
They made the oceans, seas and lakes
The waves, the tides, they'd not forsake
And when the Sun and Moon gazed down
At the tree that stood alone
For aeons countless, clung to life
They saw no trunk, no branch, no leaf
For Lava and fire had attacked and killed
Lightning stung and torrents drowned
The Moon and Sun, they wept and wept
and clouds did rain a gentle rain
The Sun caressed with tame and tender
Beams that warmed the Earth
When suddenly a crack did render
Both celestial angels quiet
For out the ground the seeds now woke
Green and small and fresh
The Moon and The Sun
They both rejoiced
They danced all through the day and night
And still they dance both day and night
When it's dark,
When it's light
And as the new born trees grew
All the world did sing anew
A chorus for The Universe
A symphony of Life
