Stormy Weather(sonnet)

2017-01-17
I had a friend with mental illness, and it was a long struggle to continue to be supportive when it felt like they were gone but not dead, though to steal your metaphor it also had moments where the sun broke through the storm clouds and things were almost normal again.

the last dance

Stark. I hope it does not come to pass. I choose to believe it won't. But I can easily see it happening. One of the reasons I chose to go into education.

Caved In

I like the line about the cigarette hanging like the things you should've said... badly paraphrased, sorry. But that line, most of that stanza, rings quite true. Often I end up smoking out in the dark alone feeling like that, though I've never articulated as elegantly as you have.

Hymn to hall up high

When I read this I hear music in my head. Some kind of epic, possibly folk or viking metal. Seriously. It's like a more sophisticatedly written Amon Amarth lyrics. Note that this isn't a bad thing.

I appreciate the archaic style. Highly enjoyable read.

'The Art'

This is beautifully written and very wistful... "I love the way we always lied about how we'd never lie to each other" is my favorite line, though this poem is chock full of them.

Depleted

I like the multiple layers of meaning being written about here, or at least the analogies/allusions you use. Good work!

WORDS

2013-04-30
I like how you capture the diversity of words, and the power that they can have over people.

One question, though, was second line supposed to be "gentle"?

To a Liar

sounds painful and like a really crappy situation to be in, sorry to hear about it

My Star

2013-04-30
The power was in you all along. Great message. :)

Dry pasture.

That's a really cool form of poetry and I like the images this conjures up. Are you a farmer? Also, I had to look up the word 'beryl' and all I found were chemistry sites, which is awesome.

The light of love fills the sky

2013-01-24
I know it's been said, but this was absolutely beautiful because of the simplicity and grace with which it was written. Damn good job!

Adieu to a broken heart!

Humans are surprisingly resilient to what can be heavy torment. Great poem.

First Secret

Congratulations! Good babies come from May, that's when I was born :)

Do you have a name yet?

Just be

2011-08-02
I like how the lines distill from complexity to simplicity. It's kind of laid out as a logical progression as well: just being leads to other things, in the end 'joy'. I don't know if it was intentional or not, but I appreciate it just the same.

Being Yourself

2011-08-02
It's a hard lesson to learn, but one well worth learning. My earlier years would've been much easier had I known that people would accept me for who I was. Instead I hid away. Good write.

Death of a Dream, Come True.

Unfortunately reminds me so much of my experiences. Life is a beautiful suffering. Excellent write. The last line, as already said, is really powerful.

Human Error

2011-07-08
Sounds like a bad accident. Luck (or fate) was on your side that night. Reminded me of my accident

New forest.

Hey, I really love the imagery in this, especially blushing skyline. I dig your work man.

When Body needs Soul

2011-04-21
There is heartrending- brought a tear to my eye. Well done

Between the lines

2011-04-21
I think you captured the uncertainty of relationships very well in this poem, even after you've been with someone a while

When I Die, I won't turn to Dust...

2011-02-04
this is a beautiful poem. it reminds me of a quote from the movie The Fountain, which is spoken by a women dying of cancer-- quite poignant.

peace and love to you

Deep sleep

I like the organization of this poem. Sounds very zen

Down on the Farm

2011-01-20
That's a truly crazy (in a good way) story. Reminds me of James Herriot(sp?) books I used to read. Did they ever figure out why the cow didn't move to begin with?

Mentality

2010-04-12
I like this poem a lot... but I'm sorry I cannot pinpoint why exactly. It's interesting to have daylight as an obscuring force rather than illuminating.

Warm Rain Of Life Corrupted

I'm sorry, I'm not sure exactly why I like this so much, I just do. If it comes to me I'll let you know.

Enough with ideologies and empty words

2009-07-06
it's like that in the US too...

Bluebell Magic.

i love the imagery in this poem.
