where peaceful waters flow
if I were to die this night
do lay me out
as I have wished
upon a heather bed
beneath the starry sky
where cygnus flies
so free
for there
I would n'er be alone
with darkness as my blanket
seven sisters by my side
the milky way above my head
polaris
for my guide
and as I slip
back to the turf
from whence I came
just decades since
shall I cast my mind
to when I first loved thee
naïve and free yet lonely
God give me strength
upon this night
to fly for one last time
away from care and endless pain
to meet the old companions
of my youth
to embrace and kiss and love them
please let me go
where eridanus flows
her streams and rivulets
like golden hair
in cosmic winds
unfathomable
eternal
these are yet simple wishes
dreams to be fulfilled
or missed
as life itself can guide or deceive
and I a mere atom
on the stage
I bow for my final curtain
