This was written for a member of the West Memphis Three, who was married while still incarcerated... the sad thing is this man is still serving time (as are all of them) for a crime he did not commit! Please google WM3 to find out about this case!
One step becomes a mile
the world that keeps turning
A heart that is yearning
There is no forever
No sacred night together
A heart broken
Like a promise token
They share their kiss
While tears caress
Wearing suit and gown
They laugh, they frown
The moment comes too soon
To separate bride and groom
The guards take him away
Marking the end of their wedding day
A marriage unconsummated
Their love lying unsated
Hearts broken like delicate shell
As he's led back to his cell
