Happy Christmas everyone
2024-12-22 I could relate to this, looking after an elderly relative who has significan cognitative decline, yet is still there, it is tough. I have my own health issues, yet I find, dealing with the elderly relative that I question myself - I forget things, I know logically, because I am stressed, but it makes me question. A poem for many of us to relate to.
Happy Christmas Alan, I hope you and yours have a wonderful yule tide.

Short Work
2024-12-22 I wonder how many count with their fingers beneath the desk. My untrammelled brain has always had an admiration for Haiku but also a disdain for it. To achieve the minimalist you have to quench the maximus.

DUPLICITOUS CHILD
2024-12-22 Ah, have we all not a Aunt Lizzy from our childhoods, I had a remarkable amount of maiden great Aunts whose quirks and idiosycrasities probably have shaped my life. I could really relate with this wonderful poem!

SUMMER DAYS ARE OVER?
2024-05-06 I love summer, going to the beach. I don't like bbq's though, I don't mind Al Fresco eating, a nice fruit de mer with salad is lovely with a little chilled wine. I had this boyfriend years ago, who would call me 'his posh totty' lol.

Live On

2021-11-19 I don't fully understand this poem but I do know that it made me feel and sometimes I think, you don't have to understand everything, it is how, when reading it makes you feel - probably explaining this very ineptly but it touched me

Making Bread
2021-05-29 I remember as a child, our housekeeper went through a stage of making bread and I remember helping with kneading the dough - I think it was just a phase tho, we had a wonderful baker run by Monsieur Schmidt and would buy baguettes, then later the rather horrible a doughy portuguese rolls.
I enjoyed - I think I will stick with buying my baguette though lol but I do recall the smell of cooking bread is to die for lol

Lonely
2021-05-26 I think many of us can relate - there is another world you inhabit after someone you love has passed on. I remember when my father died, leaving the hospital and a friend called wanting to moan about work and I was struck between the surreal feeling of sudden loss and the mundane.

2021-05-14 I could have been walking through my garden, I could smell the air and that slight freshness - my clematis has been a tad slow this year as it was so dry here - I enjoyed

In memory of my father
2021-04-04 Tears are easier to shed on loss as you grow older, as a child, the expected is always unexpected and reactions are different - I didn't cry either, I was too young and didn't understand the finality of death. I did cry when my father died but I was an adult then

2021-03-29 I have become the mask lady, I have them everywhere and of all kinds - for school, the visers, for shopping an array of multi coloured ones - no, sadly shopping is not a pleasure these days and I go rarely and order online, glad your fictional lady was just that

How would you go about it?
2021-03-08 Ah a problem, I have to agree with shells, although I am a bit of a Thomas and tend to just grumble to myself as I hate confrontations of any kind - but I think shells is right to affect an introduction and mention that sounds do carry.
Hope it works out as noisy neighbours can be draining

The Snug
2021-03-08 Sounds wonderfully cosy, having always lived in large cavernous homes, my childhood home, we had what was called the breakfast room, where we would camp out for the winter before moving back to the drawing room - we children had our own space which we called the rumpus room

Big school
2021-03-05 Those were the days! Our schools have not closed and I have been working throughout the pandemic at school - great fun reminding boys to put their masks on! I remember being sent to boarding school in England - it was a culture shock at the time and so damn cold!!!! This made me smile

2021-01-02 Ooooh, poor sliced thumb! Sounds as if it would have been good before all the bloodshed! You should see my scars from opening oysters (you would think I would have learnt the 1st time, but oh no, my love of shellfish surpasses common sense!) Happy New Year and speedy recovery to said thumb!

Jazz With Fond Memories of Long Forgotten Times
2020-12-19 I can feel that sand right now! Smell that seabreeze - the sea and music are my lifeblood - I used to play in a jazz band back when I was studying music - and those brief encounters when we would crowd into a smoke filled apartment, thank you for your memory which stoked my memories of times past and loves long lost

Flashes of Christmas Memories
2020-12-19 What happened to tinsel? I recall this sugared almonds and midnight singers at the door and polished marble in the hall that we used to spin on. Lovely memories, though very poignant this year - my grandson is too young being a pandemic baby so won't have this year as a memory but I hope he has many others that will keep him warm throughout his life.
Happy Christmas

Vaccine, sung to the Tune of Jolene
2020-12-19 I'm hoping for the vaccine! Think I'm a way down the list still and so long as this new strain doesn't get me, I wear my mask and absolute joy I don't have to be grabbed into unwelcomed hugs and kissed all the time, there are some silver linings! I hope poor Dolly has her jab soon!
Happy Christmas and a safe new year to you
